Rare Maori photos group of four Mounted page card
A group of four images from an album dating to the late 1870’s. The images third right can be referenced in the Auckland Museum collection, where it appears on a CDV mount from the Elizabeth Pullman studio. Mount: Mounted on card.
Condition: good minus – some damage, loss of tone.
This page requires research and I will add more information shortly where a visit by King Tawhio to the Pullman studios in Auckland was made and I am wondering is this is the group in question.?The king and a number of his party paid a visit to the Pulmans photograhic studio on the 8th june 1882 and the king especially expressed admiration of a new series of the Hot lakes views taken during the months of March and April by Messrs Steel and Pulman.
The sizes of the photos vary ,I would say cdv photo size on all ,the smallest is second from left ,lady measure 7.5 cm x 6cm approx, the page laid out that photos overlap
the chief second from right has Paul chief Hauraki
ALL men are facially tattooed and the women all with moko.
