Description
American pre civil war 1814 Boston and Charleston.
–This is a most interesting maritime document dated 1814[war of 1812 era]from the ports of Boston and Charleston, district of Massachusetts.
The American vessel “Rambler Snow” from Brodeaux [south West France] with [one hogshead of claret],hogshead was a form of measurement and I presume this was French wine .
The document was signed by major Thomas Melville, the collector at the port -and a close friend of John Hancock -and who participated in the Boston tea party.
the usual age wear of a 200 year document. stunning.
