Rare maori CDV photo Fairs & steel Photographers Auckland 1890s.

I don’t think I have seen many Fairs & Steel photographers Auckland cdv photos ,this one shows fine portrait of maori lady seated in european dress.

To date I have not located a name for her alas but I will keep searching in archives but some will never be identified .

Carte de Vista sepia /1890s? 102 mm x 63mm.

Condition card has yellowed with browning spots.Phoitographers name on reverse ,slight crease top left corner and can be faintly seen to reverse.

The Fairs and Steel photographic saloon was situated in Grafton Road Auckland,Both Thomas Fairs and George Steel arrived in Auckland on the ship Portland on the 22nd July 1863 as cabin passengers ,Thomas died in Auckland in 1864 aged 32 [29th Dec] and George died Auckland 24 March 1891 aged [54 years]?so it is more likely that George Steel took this maori ladies image.[HE WORKED ON THE HOT LAKES SERIES OF IMAGES WITH PULMAN STUDIO]which the maori king and party on the 8th June 1882 visited and expressed great admiration of the images.
